Malta Themed Tours: Malta Tour Operators Crafting History through Immersive Storytelling

Our Journey: From Local Malta Tour Operators to Inspiring Experiences

Malta Themed Tours are Malta tour operators offering distinctly crafted tours created by locals. The company was born from a shared passion for history. It also stems from a curiosity about the extraordinary lives of ordinary people who shaped Malta’s past.

Our journey began with a simple yet profound belief. We believe that history is best experienced through immersive storytelling. We envisioned Malta tour operators who didn’t just recite facts and dates. Instead, they would transport visitors through time. This allows them to live history, not just observe it.

Originally known as “Real Malta Tours,” we were formed in 2018. Many Covid summers later, we evolved and rebranded as “Malta Themed Tours.”

We exclusively use Maltese guides who are deeply curious about the past. They bring history to life in a way that’s engaging, interactive, and thought-provoking. Our guides step into the shoes of remarkable historical figures. They interweave anecdotes and characters into compelling narratives that unfold in the actual locations where history was made.

Malta Themed Tours isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about empowerment and inspiration. We believe that the lessons of the past hold hidden answers to today’s problems and opportunities. Our goal is to enrich lives and offer practical takeaways that stay with visitors long after the tour ends.

Our purpose as Malta tour operators is to inspire and provoke new ways of thinking. We aim to leave guests with a newfound appreciation for the power of the past.

Giacomo Muscat

Giacomo Muscat was proudly born in the historic town of Żabbar, which was granted city status by the last Grand Master of the Knights of St. John who resided in Malta.

Despite dreaming of a life at sea as a pirate from a young age, Giacomo’s pirate dreams were shattered when he was sent to school and found himself on a quite different path, becoming an Acca-qualified accountant and registered auditor and later a Business Growth Consultant .

Researching both Maltese and International History was always a favourite hobby and passion for Giacomo since a very young age when his hair was still on “active duty”. Yet fate had other plans in store for him.

In 2011, while perusing a pirate book gifted to him by his girlfriend at the time (now his wife), Giacomo stumbled upon two pages dedicated to the fascinating history of Maltese corsairs, re-igniting his passion for piracy, but this time in a historical context connected to Malta tourist spots.

Hooked, he ditched his career and traded it in for something much more exciting, creating his Corsair clothing Brand, visiting schools to educate children further on this subject, and becoming a licensed tour guide and  “Captain” of his own Malta Themed Tours, offering Malta tours by locals.

Merħba! (Welcome)

Mela, as we say in Malta.

I’m Giacomo Muscat and my family has been Maltese since at least the 1300s, so these streets are not just my workplace…They are part of who I am.

When I guide, I don’t simply explain Malta’s past; I step into it, drawing from real historical figures and documented events to give context, depth, and human perspective to the places we walk through. (check out the video)

Each experience is designed as part of a wider narrative, allowing history to unfold gradually rather than as isolated facts.

My tours are immersive and interactive, grounded firmly in research, but always delivered with warmth, wit and respect. The goal is simple: to make Malta’s past unforgettable, and to leave you feeling as though you’ve lived it not just heard about it.

Until we meet, you’ll probably find me with a slice of ricotta cheesecake in hand, reading about some long-forgotten Maltese character who deserves their story told.
