While I’m honestly still trying to process the incredible honour of recently receiving two Malta Tourism Awards, another unforgettable surprise has just arrived. Malta Themed Tours has once again received the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2026, officially placing our immersive experiences among the Top 10% of attractions and experiences worldwide for the second consecutive year.
To say this has been overwhelming would be an understatement. Winning not one, but two Malta Tourism Awards, followed almost immediately by international recognition through Tripadvisor… has made this one of the most surreal and humbling moments since Malta Themed Tours first began. And the most important part?
This recognition comes entirely from you….Your reviews. Your recommendations. Your support. Your laughter during the tours. And your willingness to trust one slightly unhinged Maltese storyteller waving swords around Valletta in period costume
“Theatre in the Streets” – From a One-Man Show to local and International Recognition
The Malta Tourism Awards are the official national awards of Malta’s tourism industry, organised by the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), the government body responsible for regulating and promoting tourism across the Maltese Islands. Winning one is the highest recognition the industry can bestow.
The Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Award for 2026, is a highly coveted global honour that recognizes the top 10% of hotels, restaurants, attractions, and tour experiences worldwide. The award is uniquely determined by real traveler feedback. Winners are selected based on the quality, quantity, and recency of reviews and ratings posted on the Tripadvisor Platform over a 12-month period. Winning it placing us among the Top 10% of experiences worldwide for the second year running.
When this adventure first began, I simply wanted to create something different.
Not ordinary walking tours.
Not history delivered like a school lecture.
I wanted to create immersive experiences where Malta’s past felt:
• alive
• emotional
• theatrical
• authentic
• humorous
• and occasionally just the right amount of chaotic.
That idea slowly evolved into what many of you now know as: “Theatre in the Streets”. An immersive storytelling experience where I step into the shoes of real historical personalities drawn from Malta’s archives, bringing forgotten stories, scandals, corsairs, rebels, and survivors back to life in the very streets where history unfolded.
It is certainly not everyone’s glass of rum.
Building a niche within a niche — especially as a one-man operation — is never easy, and there were moments where I genuinely questioned whether immersive historical storytelling in Malta could ever reach a wider audience.
Yet somehow, what started with:
• far too many history books
• authentic period clothing e pieces scattered everywhere
• and dangerous amounts of caffeine
…has slowly become an internationally recognised experience.
